YOUR SUPPORTIVE TEACHER

What started as rehabilitation for a snowboarding accident in 2008, quickly saw Becky fall in love with the art and science of Pilates. Not only did she regain strength and mobility after her accident, but she also transformed her emotional and spiritual sense of self – enough for her to leave behind her office job and pursue a career in the world of Pilates. Fast-forward more than a decade and Becky’s vision has now transformed into what you know as Uden Pilates.

  • Yes absolutely - there are classes tailored to all abilities.

  • Yes. Prenatal and Postnatal specialized classes are all included as part of the membership.

  • Pregnancy is not an illness, and you are not injured, it is a natural thing even if in the first trimester your body and mind isn’t telling you so! I always advise ‘less is best’ in this early stage of pregnancy - your body is undergoing a lot of physical and hormonal changes, so it is best to just take it easy. That being said, if you are feeling up to it and are used to doing a lot of exercise, then just listen to your body, take it slow and practice what feels right for you, remembering that your baby is trying to attach itself to your uterus, so do take it slow and avoid closed twisting.

  • Yes absolutely. There are third trimester classes in the library especially designed to prepare the body for birth. Listen to your bodies and rest when needed.

  • This really does vary for everyone, but for a vaginal delivery this tends to be around 6-8 weeks, for abdominal delivery around 12 weeks. We strongly advocate that every woman, regardless of delivery, sees a women's health physio anytime from 6 weeks to carry out a ‘Mummy MOT’ before you commence exercise. This really is the best investment for you and can speed up your postnatal recovery journey. During the assessment the physio can do a thorough assessment of your body - back, pelvis, abdominal strength, check for diastasis and importantly an internal assessment of your pelvic floor.
